Manual Handling Course Recognition
Manual Handling training is not currently standardised at a national level, unlike First Aid training for example.
Often health workers will complete some type of manual handling training during the attainment of their initial qualifications such as:
- care or support workers during their TAFE certificates
- allied health professional during their university degree
Organisations are responsible for providing workers with appropriate training relative to the risks and risk levels of the organisational and position needs.
With regards to manual handling, online training is quite commonplace now across all sectors, including the healthcare sector.
Our online training is suitable for organisations to provide to health care workers on a yearly basis to support safe manual handling practices. It is also suitable for sole traders working in the NDIS sector to support their own skills.
Our recommendation to organisations is that our online manual handling training forms the foundational and mandatory knowledge for the most at risk manual handling tasks.
We then recommend that organisations engage local Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists on a case by case basis to support either highly complex manual handling tasks or workers requiring support due to workplace injuries.
