DVA Home Visits for Allied Health

As a mobile allied health provider, we follow the DVA guidelines regarding home visits.

We are only able to accept DVA referrals for mobile, home visits where there is a genuine need for a home visit.

This can include:
- there is a requirement to conduct a home assessment or;
- if the entitled person is physically unable to travel

Where there is no evidence of a genuine need to travel, the kilometre allowance is unable to be paid by DVA and consequently we cannot deliver our services unfortunately.

Clear examples are:

Occupational Therapy - home visits to assess and prescribe equipment or home modifications

Physiotherapy - home visits where a veteran is unable to attend a clinic easily

Speech Pathology - home visits where a veteran is unable to attend a clinic easily

Dietitian - home visits where a veteran is unable to attend a clinic easily

A veteran may not be able to attend a local clinic easily due reasons such as but not limited to mobility impairments, mental health conditions, geographical area or not having access to transport. Alternatively the home visit may be essential due to the allied health assistance being required, such as a OT home assessment.
